VCCC Alliance Clinical Leadership Workshop

Ever wondered what the most effective behaviours were for managing a successful team?

Join Jason Micallef and Leah Sertori who will present the evidence and best practices for teams working in clinical settings.

This workshop will cover effective behaviors that managers and team leaders can put into practice to create more effective teamwork. Participants will explore case study presentations, the dynamics of their own teams, and inter-team dynamics at their health service. 

You will go through:

  • Collective leadership
  • Leading from an emergent future
  • How to assess the quality of teamwork
  • Impacts of teamwork on the quality of care and patient experience
  • Leveraging shared expertise to solve complex problems
  • The importance of mining for, and managing, conflict within a work team
  • Overcoming habits and assumptions that limit our individual capacity for change

This workshop is suitable for:

  • senior and emerging leaders wishing to hone their skills and knowledge in the practice of leadership
  • those who develop, shape and facilitate collaboration
  • those who wish to influence better team culture, performance and the capacity for shared reflection within their teams
  • those who lead quality initiatives and want to understand how teamwork underpins great care.

Presenters

Jason Micallef

Jason works as an industry engagement lead, assisting the University of Melbourne to design and deliver custom education initiatives for health services. Jason is a registered nurse with 27 years of experience in health care. He worked many years as a clinical educator in a tertiary hospital before leaving to coordinate training and development for the Division of Population Health (WA). Jason then went on to deliver a range of clinical reforms across the WA Health System. Prior to joining the University of Melbourne, Jason established the Institute for Health Leadership for the WA public health system, which he led for 10 years.

Leah Sertori

Leah Sertori is an associate of the Melbourne School of Professional and Continuing Education with the University of Melbourne. Leah’s background includes serving as CEO of Melbourne Cares, Sustainable Regional Australia, Be. Bendigo and LEAD Loddon Murray. Leah is a founder of Regional Management Group Pty Ltd and Sertori Consulting. Leah facilitates leadership programs in the health, defence, community development and creative industry sectors.

This is a subsidised workshop with fees to cover remaining costs: 
$100 for medical specialists
$75 for nurses, allied health and researchers
$50 for students, trainees and consumers.
