VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum: Understanding resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors in breast cancer

CDK4/6 inhibitors are a commonly prescribed therapy for breast cancer. Unfortunately, many cancers develop resistance to these drugs over time and the reasons for this are poorly understood. Join Associate Professor Shom Goel to hear about the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre's clinical study (Decode), which is uncovering new mechanisms of CDK4/6 inhibitor resistance, as well as the scientific rationale behind it.

Associate Professor Shom Goel is a clinician-scientist at the University of Melbourne and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. His research group is focused on understanding the mechanisms underlying response and resistance to contemporary therapies for breast cancer. The team has particular strengths in the study of cell cycle inhibitors and their broad impacts on breast cancer biology.  The Goel Laboratory have developed several new transgenic models of breast cancer, which have proven valuable for uncovering new mechanisms of drug activity and resistance, and their work has been published in high-impact journals including Nature, Cancer Cell and Nature Cancer.

The Molecular Tumour Board is now the "VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum"

All are welcome to attend. Join Dr Stephen Luen, Medical Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre who will Chair the VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum, previously known as the Molecular Tumour Board. A multi-disciplinary style forum that provides opportunities to discuss new research topics in Precision Oncology, as well as interesting and novel cases illustrating the clinical implications of molecular pathology and targeted therapies. Cases are discussed on an individual, de-identified basis. This forum also features an educational presentation.
