Our collaborations with Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium (MPCCC) promote a whole of Victoria approach
Cancer alliances on both sides of the Yarra are working together to face the COVID-19 pandemic by providing support and advice to clinicians and health care services treating patients with cancer.
Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium is strategically placed to take a lead role in the Victorian COVID-19 Cancer Taskforce and Network (VCCN) initiative launched last week, by linking in its expansive network of leading cancer healthcare professionals and providing expertise from across the MPCCC partnership which includes the Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre and the Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service.
Like the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, MPCCC aims to nurture a culture of collaboration and innovation that drives improved cancer outcomes.
“By working in partnership with the VCCC we can deliver a whole of Victoria approach to COVID-19 cancer care, and better support regional and rural Victoria, cancer patients and vulnerable population groups like Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities”, said Professor Melissa Southey, Research Director of MPCCC.
“MPCCC’s programs and priorities are well aligned with the VCCC’s, including precision oncology, clinical trials, data collection, consumer platforms, workforce development and service capacity building, so we hope there will be many more opportunities to combine forces”, said Professor Southey.
“Victoria’s ability to transcend organisational boundaries and build confident, productive relationships will enable us to overcome our current challenges and build strong foundations for the future.”
Felicity Topp, incoming Chair of MPCCC and Chief Executive of Peninsula Health, commented, “Victoria’s ability to transcend organisational boundaries and build confident, productive relationships will enable us to overcome our current challenges and build strong foundations for the future.”
Membership of the VCCN is open to health professionals working with cancer patients. To join, please complete the registration form via SurveyMonkey
