What we do

Despite having some of the best cancer outcomes in the world, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death and disease burden in Victoria. The VCCC Alliance is a joint venture of academic, research and clinical member institutions working together to change that. 

Our 10 members include Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, WEHI, The Royal Children’s Hospital and Western Health.

Through the VCCC Alliance these institutions are collaborating to improve the cancer system and accelerate the translation of scientific evidence into better outcomes for all people affected by cancer across Victoria.

About the Opportunity 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a change-making, collective impact organisation and apply your super organised event coordination skills in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment. This role will see you planning and coordinating the full suite of VCCC Alliance events ranging from webinars to online symposiums and in-person awards, conferences, consultative forums and other events. The VCCC Alliance hosts over 100 events throughout the year, many of which are generated by the Education Portfolio.

This is a role in which you will combine creativity and problem-solving abilities with pragmatic organisational skills. This is a terrific opportunity to be an integral member of a friendly and highly-regarded team. As Events Coordinator you will collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders providing you with a range of interesting and valuable experience within the health sector. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Providing comprehensive event management support for VCCC Alliance events, including logistics for the weekly Monday Lunch Livestream webinars
  • Establishing and implementing processes and plans to support efficient and effective event briefing and organisation and forward planning for event schedules
  • Liaison with Professional Conference Organisers, other event managers and suppliers as needed to organise events
  • Working collaboratively with the communications team to ensure events are publicised with adequate lead time 
  • Working closely with Program Managers and expert Leads to organise workshops, majory meetings, webinars, calendar events, symposia and conferences and the evaluation of key events  
  • Providing ‘on-the-ground’ support to ensure smooth running of events, including audio visual and other presentation requirements
  • Managing sponsors and sponsorship proposals associated with events in liaison with the communications team
  • Supporting major PR events such as setting up for events, running booths, presentations and organising collateral
  • A tertiary qualification, preferably in Event Management or Communications/Marketing, or significant relevant work experience.

About You  

You will be a positive, proactive and adaptable individual who likes using your initiative, contributing to a professional team, and collaborating with others to achieve high quality results. You will have: 

  • Previous work experience utilising outstanding administration and organisational skills in similar role, in events and/or marketing/communications
  • Experience organising, implementing, and evaluating conferences and online and public events, with and understanding of best practice event management 
  • Experience working with event technologies including audio visual, video conferencing, event management apps and webinars
  • Experience in managing venue and catering providers and proven ability to manage an event budget and schedule from end to end
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisation and communication skills
  • Well-developed keyboard and computer skills in Microsoft applications, website CMS, database management and online event management platforms
