Boosting Consumer Awareness

Increasing clinical trial participation statewide is a major priority for the VCCC Alliance, and a key step towards achieving this is to debunk common myths and boost consumer understanding of cancer and non-cancer trials, including teletrials.

Together with VCCC Alliance consumers, we have co-designed tailor-made educational resources to deliver a clinical trial awareness session to meet the needs of the general population. The design, format and layout of the session’s framework have been driven by consumers with input from health professionals across Victoria.

The educational tools can be used by anyone, to assist in promoting clinical trials, including sites and their requirements under the National Clinical Trial Governance Framework (NCTGF) Standard 2: Partnering with Consumer.

Educational resources

The educational resources have been designed so that organisations can host presentations either in person, online or in a hybrid format to meet the needs of the audience. They can also be adapted to include references to local information.

The available resources include:

  • the full pre-recorded video of the session with a healthcare professional's narration; OR
  • the individual resources, including:
    • the consumer’s perspective
    • eligibility case studies with animations
    • Powerpoint presentation
    • session evaluation
    • FAQ

The pre-recorded components of the campaign can be used if your organisation does not have access to appropriate presenters. For further information on how to implement the consumer sessions, please download this guide.
