Kathleen is a consumer advocate with eight years' experience in the cancer sector, focusing on research and implementation. Residing in both metropolitan and regional Victoria has afforded her a unique perspective on the perceived and actual inequities between these regions.
Kathleen’s commitment to equity and regional advocacy has driven her to design and implement a consumer advisory network. This network empowers and supports consumers, enabling them to contribute to grant submissions, research, and advisory roles with a particular focus on regional issues.
Through her role as a consumer with the Regional Trials Network and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Alliance Consumer-Led project, Kathleen has been at the forefront of consumers leading transformational change within the cancer sector. With this project she is particularly focused on consumer engagement and mentoring as she believes future consumers need to be actively mentored and supported to engage with clinicians and other consumers.
Her initiative to establish a consumer advisory network has been instrumental in providing a platform for consumers to actively participate in shaping research and policy.
Kathleen has dedicated herself to bridging gaps in cancer research and care, particularly between metropolitan and regional areas. Her work is driven by her unwavering commitment to equity and her passion for empowering regional communities.
