VCCC Alliance Cancer Communities Forum

The landscape of cancer care has changed rapidly over the past decade. This is your chance to ask the big questions of leading cancer experts and consumers in a 'you can't ask that!' style forum looking at targeted therapies and the growing trend towards tailored treatment for cancer.

Targeted therapies have progressed in leaps and bounds in recent years and are a key aspect of current cancer research. The term refers to matching the right drugs or treatments to a person, based on a genetic or molecular understanding of their disease. Techniques and medicines are rapidly progressing and new cutting-edge technologies such as personalised mRNA cancer vaccines are emerging.

We are edging closer to effective treatments for many cancers and even cures for some patients. But are targeted therapies right for everyone? What can patients expect from this new era of tailored treatments? How do patients feel about it? And what does this mean for other treatments such as immunotherapy, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy?

You're invited to join the conversation in this no-holes-barred session as we put the curly questions to our panel - plus you can even submit your own. Together we will explore the opportunities and challenges of cancer genomics and personalised medicine.

This you can't ask that! style forum wraps the VCCC Alliance Research Conference 2023 with a focus on what it's all for - people whose lives are affected by cancer.

Conference delegates are encouraged to attend and join with the broader cancer community to hear what is on patients' minds and get answers that make sense from experts in the field - doctors, researchers and people with lived experience.

Questions we'll be answering:

  • What is precision oncology and what does it mean for patients?
  • Can it cure cancer?
  • Is it suitable for all types of cancer?
  • How do patients feel about precision oncology? What are their concerns?
  • How can patients contribute to the science and its translation into care?
  • How can we ensure everyone benefits?

Have a question of your own? Attendees will have the opportunity to submit one in the registration form.
