MLL: Sarcoma Awareness Month: Early diagnosis in primary care

A comprehensive approach to improving outcomes

Early diagnosis of sarcoma is absolutely critical for improving patient outcomes. This webinar provides GPs, nurses and allied health professionals with a comprehensive understanding of sarcoma with a focus on signs and symptoms, diagnostic challenges, data linkage, early detection and specialist referral.

Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) is partnering with VCCC Alliance in July to present a special series of webinars for Sarcoma Awareness Month.

This webinar aims to provide primary care professionals with a deeper understanding of sarcoma, including early diagnosis and diagnostic challenges.

Several topics will be covered across three expert presentations including the signs and symptoms of sarcoma, appropriate diagnostic tests, imaging techniques and management approaches, and strategies to overcome diagnostic challenges. The webinar will also emphasize the crucial role of data linkage in clinical registries and GP data in identifying delayed sarcoma diagnosis.

A consumer-led session is included which looks at the importance of early diagnosis and referral to specialist sarcoma services, and challenges faced within the diagnostic process for patients.

In this webinar, you will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of sarcoma, its signs and symptoms, and the importance of early diagnosis and referral to specialist services for improved patient outcomes
  • Learn about appropriate diagnostic tests, imaging techniques, and management approaches for suspected sarcoma cases in primary care, while understanding the challenges in identifying and diagnosing sarcoma
  • Acquire insights from consumer-led sessions on the experiences of sarcoma patients during the diagnostic process and the benefits of multidisciplinary care
  • Understand the role of data linkage between clinical registries and GP data in identifying delayed diagnosis and enhancing collaboration among primary care professionals, sarcoma specialists, and patients to improve outcomes
