Dr Andrew Fellowes, Scientist in Charge of Molecular Diagnostic Development at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, will be discussing emerging technologies in detecting homologous recombination deficiency in ovarian cancer.
Senior cancer genomics curation scientist Dr Huiling Xu will also be giving a short talk on the practical side of ordering next generation sequencing tests for solid cancers, including the current testing platforms available and their limitations.
This hybrid event is part of the VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum series. These multi-disciplinary forums provide opportunities to discuss new research topics in Precision Oncology, as well as interesting and novel cases illustrating the clinical implications of molecular pathology and targeted therapies.
Cases are discussed on an individual, de-identified basis. This forum will also feature an educational presentation.
Dr Fellowes began his career in diagnostic genetics in the Molecular Pathology Section at Canterbury Health Laboratories and headed the section from 2002 until 2011, when he joined the Pathology Dept of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He completed a PhD at Otago University, is a fellow of the Human Genetics Society of Australia and a founding fellow of the Faculty of Science, the Royal College of Pathologist Australasia.
Content warning: The VCCC Alliance Precision Oncology Forum is aimed primarily at a clinical audience and features open discussion about real cases and patients. While these cases are de-identified, the imagery, content and discussion can be graphic.
