In examining the impact of Australia's health care funding arrangements, this presentation will draw out key policy lessons to improve access to high-quality cancer care.

Professor Kees van Gool
Leeder Centre for Health Policy, Economics and Data, University of Sydney

Prof van Gool is a health economist working at the intersection of research and policy. He has a joint appointment as Professor of Health Systems and Policy and the University of Sydney's Leeder Centre and the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority. He also leads the NHMRC funded Centre of Research Excellence in Value Based Payments in Cancer Care. His work has shaped how health services are funded in Australia, with a focus on ensuring patients can access effective and affordable care.

Prof Van Gool has contributed to major reforms in hospital and aged care pricing as well as primary care funding. He has published widely and regularly advises governments on funding models that seek to improve value for money in healthcare.

Dr Hadi Akbarzadeh Khorshidi
Senior Research Fellow, Cancer Health Service Reserach (CHSR) unit, University of Melbourne

Hadi is a Senior Research Fellow in Cancer Health Services Research (CHSR) unit at the University of Melbourne, contributing to The Advanced Genomic Collaboration (TAGC) and Collaborative Centre for Genomic Cancer Medicine (CCGCM). His research expertise lies within Health Services Research, Health Economics, Simulation, Optimisation, and Machine Learning. He is an Associate Investigator in ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre in Optimisation Technologies, Integrated Methodologies, and Applications (OPTiMA).
