PREDICT Symposium 2025

The Prevention and Early Detection of Cancer Network (PREDICT) Symposium offers a rare opportunity to share the latest research, innovations and best practices in early detection, policy and advocacy, and community engagement. Join a stellar line up of international and national leaders including A/Prof Kara Britt, A/Prof Laura Forrest, Prof Karin Thursky, Dr Sandy Minck and Prof Julia Brotherton in this one-day event, designed to accelerate the translation of cancer prevention and early detection research into real-world impact.

The Prevention and Early Detection of Cancer Network (PREDICT) Symposium 2025

Join leading experts, innovators, and change-makers for a one-day event designed to accelerate the translation of cancer prevention and early detection research into real-world impact.

Through dynamic keynotes, interactive panels, and case studies, we’ll explore how to:

  • Deliver equitable, system-level implementation that reaches priority populations.
  • Harness digital technologies, AI, and data integration to improve risk prediction and early detection.
  • Build strong partnerships across health services, primary care, research, and communities.
  • Overcome barriers in system readiness, workforce capability, and equity.
  • Learn from global innovations in prevention and screening.

Sessions include:

  • Equity in Action – Reaching priority  populations and measuring what works
  • Digital and Data-Driven Prevention – AI, risk stratification, and next-gen screening
  • System Change & Implementation Science – Scaling innovations from pilot to policy
  • Primary Care & Community Integration – Embedding prevention in everyday practice
  • Global Perspectives – Lessons from international models

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, collaborate, and help shape the future of cancer prevention and early detection.

Networking opportunity from 5.15pm following the symposium. Canapes and beverages to be served.

Chair

A/Prof Kara Britt
Lab Head, Breast Cancer Risk and Prevention Lab, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

A/Prof Britt leads the Breast Cancer Risk and Prevention Lab within the Cancer Evolution and Metastasis Program. She obtained her PhD from Monash University working on female reproductive endocrinology and undertook a CJ Martin fellowship at the Institute of Cancer Research (UK) under the mentorship of Alan Ashworth and Matthew Smalley. Her work has helped define why women in today’s society have an increased incidence of breast cancer. Her lab has been instrumental in developing pre-clinical models for prevention-based research.

A/Prof Britt has held Early and Mid-Career Victorian Cancer Agency Fellowships and a National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) Early Career fellowship. Her work has been supported by NHMRC, Equity Trustees, NBCF, and the Basser Centre (USA). She also co-chairs the VCCC Accelerating Novel Therapies Program which aims to increase the number of new drugs translating through to the patients that need it most.
