Niveditha Rajadevan, VCCC Alliance Gynae-oncology Research and Education Deputy Lead, has been awarded the 2026 Michael Friedlander AM Award by the Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG).
The prestigious award, which recognises early-career researchers who are advancing in the field and improving outcomes for people affected by gynaecological cancers, was announced recently at the ANZGOG Annual Scientific Meeting held on the Gold Coast.
"I am honoured to receive the award. This achievement is a reflection of the opportunities available in gynaecological cancer research through member organisations of the VCCC Alliance."
– Dr Niveditha Rajadevan
Dr Rajadevan was recognised for her exceptional contributions in several research projects while working as a consultant gynaecological oncologist at The Royal Women’s Hospital, and is the chief investigator alongside Prof Kylie Gorringem and others in the ORCAS Trial, which recently received Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) funding.
She has investigated the molecular profile of endometrial cancer in younger women, studied biomarkers in endometrial cancer, and undertaken doctoral research on treatment options for mucinous ovarian cancer through the University of Melbourne and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
ANZGOG commended Dr Rajadevan's outstanding approach to her work. "Niveditha lives the ANZGOG's values in her relationship with members and cross-function work. Significant contributions to date, particularly now as the Chair Elect for the Cervical, Vulva and Vaginal Tumour Working Group, includes collaboration with both clinical and preclinical ANZGOG members throughout her surgical training."
As part of the VCCC Alliance Clinical Translational Network, Dr Rajadevan has significantly contributed to organisation’s education and workforce development programs, advancing knowledge and translating research into clinical practice.
