The Committee
Established in 2009, Cancer Education and Training Advisory Committee (CETAC) provides expert advice on the development, implementation of best practice and quality improvement of education and training programming across the VCCC Alliance strategic programs. Members play a key role in:
- Governing key programs such as the Centre for Cancer Education, Master of Cancer Sciences and SKILLED clinical trials internship
- Shaping the VCCC Alliance Education and Training Strategic Implementation Plan
- Supporting co-designed, accessible, and high-quality cancer education initiatives across member, associate member organisations and beyond
- Promoting inclusion and equity, particularly for priority populations.
The role
As Chair of CETAC, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership for education and training programs locally and globally
- Lead CETAC to drive successful development, implementation, and quality improvement of the education and training program across the VCCC Alliance
- Advise the VCCC Alliance Board on strategic education and training implementation, where appropriate
- Foster collaboration and information sharing across VCCC Alliance members, associate members and partners across Victoria
- Work closely with the Board, Chief Executive Officer, key staff and committees
- Oversee development, implementation and maintenance of education and training programs, including externally funded projects
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the VCCC Alliance education and training program
- Build needs-based programs to develop clinical, research, and education workforces
- Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board on education and training matters
- Ensure timely, on-budget delivery of education projects to stakeholder satisfaction
- Source additional funding for education and training programming
- Collaborate with Chairs of CRAC and CCAC to integrate education and training initiatives
- Evaluate program efficacy and contribute to educational scholarship
Scope of the position
This honorary role will provide leadership and strategic direction for the CETAC and the education and training that it governs. The primary aim of the position is to develop an education and training program which will contribute to the establishment of a highly trained clinical, research and education workforce to meet the increasingly complex demands of their roles. The time commitment is associated with the four CETAC meetings per year, quarterly VCCC Alliance Board meetings and varying activities and milestones of the VCCC Alliance strategic programs.

Founded in the holistic principles of the internationally recognised Comprehensive Cancer Centre model, the VCCC Alliance brings together twelve research, academic, and clinical institutions to improve cancer outcomes across metropolitan and regional Victoria. Essential Qualifications
- Relevant clinical/allied health qualification
- Masters degree (or equivalent experience) in education and training
Essential Experience
- Commitment to VCCC Alliance education and training missioneducation and training mission
- Demonstrated collaborative leadership in the health sector
- Knowledge and experience of best-practice health education development and delivery
- Understanding of regional community engagement
- Excellent communication, networking, and relationship management skills
- Strong written communication skills for diverse audiences
Requirements
- Ability to attend all CETAC and Board meetings
- Employment within a VCCC Alliance member organisation
