Melbourne MicroCert scholarships have been awarded to an impressive cohort of cancer clinicians, researchers, clinical trial study coordinators, postdoctoral scientists and PhD students from VCCC Alliance member organisations. The successful candidates represent many disciplines and research specialties from gynaecology and haematology to genomics, childhood and rare cancers.
The scholarships are awarded in a move to rapidly grow real-world skills and know-how in clinical trial protocol design and the fundamentals of drug commercialisation and attracted an accomplished, multidisciplinary group from across our research and clinical institutes and regional Victoria.
The sponsorships will enable recipients to complete a subject in the new Melbourne Microcerts Emerging Topics in Oncology series, in either Clinical Trial Protocol Design or Drug Commercialisation Fundamentals. They will cover 75 per cent of fees for the courses commencing this month.
The six-week programs, designed by leading cancer experts from the VCCC Alliance, will support participants to quickly upskill. With a required commitment of around 4-6 hours of learning a week, delivered flexibly, cancer specialists in research and clinical settings will rapidly gain in-demand skills alongside their current work or study schedules.
Theresa Connor, subject coordinator for Drug Commercialisation Fundamentals said, “The great benefit of the MicroCerts is that they can be taken as a stand-alone course or complemented with any other Melbourne MicroCert in the Emerging Topics in Oncology series to broaden knowledge and skills.
“It also offers a pathway – otherwise known as advanced standing – into the Master of Cancer Sciences.”
