This year’s VCCC Research Conference will close with a conversation involving not only researchers, clinicians and educators but also local members of our community whose lives have been touched by cancer. Natasha Mitchell, multi-award winning journalist and presenter of ABC RN's science, technology and culture program and podcast, Science Friction will host the Q&A style event in the Grand Ballroom at Melbourne Sofitel on Collins.
All are welcome to this free evening forum to hear Natasha facilitate a discussion on what it means to live with cancer in Victoria.
Helping to reveal and explain some of the complexities will be Professor Doug Hanahan internationally-renowned biologist, professor and director of the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research in Lausanne and author of The Hallmarks of Cancer.
They will be joined by Professor Grant McArthur, leading melanoma specialist and VCCC Executive Director; Professor Mei Krishnasamy, Chair in Cancer Nursing University of Melbourne; Professor Rob Ramsay from Peter Mac - who has the distinction of being both a patient treated for prostate cancer at the hospital and the current head of Gastrointestinal Cancer; and mother of five, patient ambassador and author of The Jones Family Food Roster, Alison Jones.
Together they will explore the current state of play of cancer research; Melbourne’s status as one of the leading cancer research and treatment centres in the world, and our role and responsibility in sharing this expertise across the state, the nation and the region.
Join us from 6.00pm for non-alcoholic drinks and canapes. Program begins promptly at 6.30pm.
