Almost 30 attendees experienced the inaugural Leadership Academy Excellence Program in October, hearing from guest speakers and participating in an inspiring two-day workshop.
The program included a residential retreat at Balgownie Estate in the Yarra Valley over two days, as well as an online masterclass and small group coaching. Participants experienced sessions such as ‘Leading with our strengths’, ‘Leading in complexity’ and ‘Shaping a narrative and storytelling’ while enjoying a beautiful backdrop to soak up new ideas and network in a relaxed, multidisciplinary setting.
Highlights included sessions with Royal Melbourne Hospital CEO Professor Shelley Dolan, VCCC Alliance Consumer Cancer Advisory Committee Chair, Melissa Le Mesurier and Royal Melbourne Hospital Liaison Nurse, Kerrie Treseder. The leaders spoke about their personal and professional growth and most importantly, an emphasis on placing patients first in everything they do.
Here's what some of the participants had to say:
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be involved. It has been a really enlightening and enriching experience. I am excited about putting what I have learnt into action and continuing to learn!”
“Doing the preparation work with the strength mindset and the 2 online sessions was great to be in the right mindset for the residential. It was great to ease into the program with the first afternoon session, in an environment different from our usual workplace. Fantastic facilitators. I loved Leah’s approach.”
Delivered in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, the Leadership Academy Excellence Program is for consumers, researchers and clinicians (doctors, nurses, allied health) who want to influence positive change, understand their unique strengths and opportunities for growth and increase their ability to hold steady when leading change.
