EOI: Health Equity Data Program Coordinator

  • Join our Cancer Health Equity Team to support work to investigate and identify barriers and enablers in the collection of health service data for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Culturally and Linguistically diverse communities

About the position

The Health Equity Data Program Coordinator is a new position, created to develop and drive research and implementation projects focussed on improving the collection health data of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Culturally and Linguistically diverse communities.

In this role, you will work closely with VCCC alliance members and partners to map existing data infrastructure and identify potential interventions that will improve data collection. Success will largely rely on an organised and methodical approach and proactive engagement and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of project-related activities, from administrative coordination to discrete responsibility for managing identified project requirements, including:

  • Attending key stakeholder meetings with the Manager, Health Equity and following up on meeting actions
  • Setting up monitoring systems and tracking project-related milestones, deliverables and key requirements
  • Mapping existing data infrastructure and identifying potential interventions that will improve data collection within regulatory and ethical frameworks
  • Working closely with VCCC Alliance members, steering groups, Chairs and consumers to support project implementation and project impact analysis for reporting purposes
  • Coordinating workshops, meetings, events and teleconferences pertaining to the program of work
  • Supporting the preparation and delivery of agendas and meeting minutes

To be eligible for this role you must have a valid Right to Work in Australia and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (three vaccinations) due to the cancer hospital setting in which we work. Satisfactory completion of a National Police Check will also be required.

About you

You will pride yourself on your communication skills and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.  You will be an organised and meticulous person with proven project management experience and you will excel at coordinating others to achieve collective results. You will have:

  • Experience in health information technology project delivery, management of data systems and/or data registries
  • Excellent understanding of and experience using project management frameworks and methodologies with enough experience and skill to adjust processes and problem-solve to remove unnecessary complexity
  • Knowledge of information and health data linkage, integrations and interoperability with other data systems including the use of data dictionaries
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks, privacy, and data access regulations
  • Background experience working in a clinical/health sciences environment
  • Previous stakeholder management experience, preferably with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) would be an advantage
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as public health, policy, data science, research, information technology or equivalent level of work experience.

This position is offered as a secondment opportunity, open to individuals currently employed at a VCCC Alliance member organisation. The position will be offered under either a funding or secondment agreement.

Term:  12 months, ideally commencing in February 2023.  Fractional appointment of 0.4FTE (15.2 hours per week)
