Nicola's work in evaluation and implementation largely focuses on increasing equity and participation in Australia's national cancer screening programs. Recently embarking on a PhD (supported by an NHMRC scholarship), Nicola's main project aims to optimise and evaluate recent policy changes allowing universal access to self-collection for cervical screening – a policy that has great potential to increase equity and improve cancer outcomes.
Nicola also uses her skillset to support a range of other projects, including evaluating initiatives to increase participation in the bowel, breast and cervical screening programs, and some early scoping work to inform the design of the potential lung cancer screening program. Nicola is passionate about equity in health and feels privileged to be able to contribute to ensuring systems are accessible and inclusive and support positive experiences for everyone across the cancer care continuum.
