Prof Mei Krishnasamy is Professor and Director of the Academic Nursing Unit at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the VCCC Alliance Research and Education Lead, Cancer Nursing. She is the program champion for the VCCC Nurse-led Research Program and honorary Professor of Cancer Nursing at the University of Melbourne.
Michael is an experienced Nurse Practitioner with skills in Symptom Management, Clinical Research, Patient Advocacy, Nursing Education, and Palliative Care. Michael graduated from Port Pirie Hospital in South Australia. He later attained graduate certificates in mental health, oncology and palliative care nursing, graduate diploma in oncology nursing and a Master of Nursing Leadership. Following senior nursing roles in oncology and the palliative care setting he was appointed Palliative Care Nurse Consultant at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in 2006, then as a Nurse Practitioner in 2012.
Michael has worked with people affected by cancer, as well as those whose professional role it is to care for them, as a clinician, educator, manager and leader for more than 30 years. His experience spans working within inpatient and outpatient settings in both public and private health care systems. He is an endorsed Cancer Nurse Practitioner, who for the last 10 years has worked as the Oncology/Haematology Nurse Practitioner at The Northern Hospital in Epping, Victoria. Michael’s role officially and unofficially includes providing direct advanced clinical nursing care, care coordination, patient advocacy, treatment monitoring, patient education and coaching, counselling, medical education and training and input into strategic service development.
Alison completed her Postgraduate Critical Care studies for her ICU training at RPAH, Sydney in 2005 and then later completed the Graduate Certificate in Cancer Nursing through Peter Mac and University of Melbourne. She was awarded an Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen and Women scholarship by the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre to complete her Master of Advanced Nursing Practice. She is now enrolled as a full-time PhD candidate through the University of Melbourne- Department of Medical Oncology and the National Centre for Infections in Cancer.
George spent 41 years working in the IT industry before retiring in 2016. In April 2013 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and underwent chemotherapy followed by an Allogenic Stem Cell transplant in the same year. He is on various grant review boards, committees, including, Melbourne Health Ethics Committee, a Consumer Representative for WEHI, MACH, VCCC Alliance and the AHRA CCI initiative.
Felicity Rackham is a Clinical Nurse Consultant currently practicing Wound, Ostomy, and Continence care in Peter Maccallum Cancer Centre’s Stomal Therapy Department. She holds a post graduate certificate in Stomal Therapy from the Australian College of Nursing (ACN), and a Master of Wound Care from Monash University. Felicity has over 10 years of nursing experience in both the public and private acute care sectors in Victoria, holding various colorectal, urological, and other specialty roles with Monash Health, Cabrini Health, and Epworth Healthcare. She is the current secretary of the Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses (AASTN) Victorian Branch, and is the creator and host of “The OZtomy Nurse Project”, a podcast dedicated to educating individuals, clinicians, and communities about living with a stoma.
