Melanoma Biomarker Symposium

Examine the state of the art in biomarkers for melanoma prognosis and prediction of responses to treatment, and the pathway to their implementation in the clinic.

Featuring international guest speaker
Dr Alexander Meves, Mayo Clinic USA

Meves Alexander

Dr. Meves’ clinical interests are related to skin cancer, specifically melanoma. His research focuses on the biology of skin cancer, specifically as it relates to the remodeling of connective tissue and the extracellular matrix. He also aims to translate basic research into new and innovative methods to diagnose and treat skin cancer. For example, he co-developed the SkylineDx CP-GEP model for primary melanoma risk-stratification and works with colleagues at Mayo Clinic and Exact Sciences on ‘liquid biopsy’ diagnostic tests for metastatic melanoma.

Local guest speaker
Professor Maarten IJzerman, University of Melbourne

Professor Maarten IJzerman

Professor IJzerman is leading a global research program focused on the health economics and service delivery of precision medicine, in particular oncology. The research program includes the use of real-world (linked) data for health services research, the use of decision modelling methods for biomarker development, patient-preferences research and dynamic treatment sequencing.
