VCCC Alliance Consumer Engagement Forum 2021

Consumer Advocacy: An Untapped Resource

Unlock research funding and maximise professional education potential

In 21st century Australian healthcare, consumer advocacy is increasingly regarded as an effective stimulus for improving our health system, influencing research priorities, and ensuring better, safer patient care for all.

Researchers, clinicians, consumers and those who work with them are invited to join our annual Consumer Engagement Forum on 3 December 2021 to learn about the potential for consumer advocacy, why research funding will continue to be conditional on consumer involvement, and how effective consumer partnerships are shifting the paradigm – revealing exciting opportunities – in both cancer research and education.

Effective and meaningful consumer involvement requires staff and mentors to have the requisite skills, experience and relationships to support both the process and the people who get involved. This forum will provide a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to enrich understanding and knowledge for consumers and cancer professionals who are striving for better patient outcomes.

Hosted by VCCC Alliance Cancer Consumer Advisory Committee.

Keynote

Professor Sanchia Aranda AM, Deputy Chair VCCC Alliance, President of City Cancer Challenge Foundation, former CEO of Cancer Council Australia and past President of the Union for International Cancer Control will open this insightful, interactive program featuring discussions, practical examples and case studies.
