Nicole Webb, Albury Wodonga Health Cancer Care Coordinator, and clinical research nurse with the Border Medical Oncology Research Unit fits a lot into her day. Her schedule includes work, a family and study for a Master of Cancer Sciences part-time online.
“I really like the Masters course because I can tailor-make it to fit my occupation. I’m currently working in research, and as a cancer care coordinator, and the course affords me the ability to choose subjects from both of those fields."
Nicole endorses the online aspect of the Masters which is delivered through the University of Melbourne, and was co-created by hundreds of cancer clinicians and researchers - specialists from across the VCCC alliance.
"I love the online delivery because it gives me the ability to study wherever I am. If I’m picking up the kids from school, I can sit in the car for half an hour beforehand and watch a video.
It’s a great mix…it has got every component really; being online, but you can still study when you’re offline and it also tailors to your different learning needs. It is very visual for those that like to watch videos and see clips. And the discussion board is great because you get to talk to other students and learn from each other.
I was quite nervous before I started and I’m loving it now. For someone who likes to study it’s not overly demanding. Go for it! I think my knowledge base has grown so much and I’ve really appreciated that. I think it will improve my patient care ultimately."
