VCCC staff expands to support delivery of Strategic Research Plan

With 19 programs of work to execute within the VCCC Strategic Research Plan, we have made a number of key contract appointments to provide the backbone support needed to ensure their successful delivery.

We are therefore delighted to welcome these talented staff members to the VCCC team...

Anne Woollett, Head of Clinical Trial Programs

Anne will lead the team to deliver the VCCC cancer clinical trials strategy. Anne has over 25 years’ experience working in a broad range of fields in oncology clinical trials including clinical trials development, processes and governance at local, state and national levels. We are delighted that she will be joining our team. Over the coming weeks we will begin recruiting a clinical trials program management team to support her.

Natasha Moloczij, Nurse-led Research: Innovation Hub Program Manager

Joining us in this newly established position Natasha will be both working with VCCC Research & Education Lead for Cancer Nursing, Prof Mei Krishnasamy. Natasha is a results-oriented researcher with 12 years’ experience in health service research, implementation science and translatable research. Having most recently worked in the Department of Cancer Experiences Research at VCCC alliance partner, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, we are excited to have Natasha joining our team this week.

Sathana Dushyanthen, Project Lead for the Graduate Program, Master of Cancer Sciences

Sathana will join the VCCC team on a full time basis in April but is has already in the VCCC office one day a week while she completes her PhD with the University of Melbourne. Sathana is working closely with our Course Development Coordinator, Dr David Kok, the VCCC Education Development team and the team from the University of Melbourne Graduate Online Program to establish the ground work for this new Masters of Cancer Sciences. The course will be provided online, commencing in 2019.

Finally, effective communication is critical to the success of our Strategic Research Plan, so we are delighted to welcome two new staff to work with our Head of Communications.

Lee Byrne, Communications Manager

Lee will focus her strategic communication and journalism skills on our outward-facing communications with projects including the re-design of our website, social media management and development of a proactive media relations program. Most recently, Lee was Strategy and Operations Communications Manager at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, and she is also co-founder of the active Parkville Communications Group.

Janie Sweeney, Communications Coordinator (part time)

Janie will concentrate her extensive public health sector communications experience on communications across our alliance partners, to ensure everyone is kept abreast of news, events, opportunities and progress as we roll out the SRP and work to strengthen and build our alliance. Janie's most recent role was managing communications activity for Alfred Health Carer Services.

The appointments will commence over the first weeks of February 2018.
