Data and Metrics Officer

Are you passionate about data analysis as an evidence base for demonstrating progress and impact? We’re seeking a motivated, self-professed data evaluation guru to take up this newly created position, 3 days per week (or shorter hours over 4 days) for the next 12 months.

About the Opportunity

As the Data & Metrics Officer, you will collect, collate and analyse a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data from VCCC Alliance programs. The aim will be to demonstrate progress, achievements and benefit impacts on the cancer sector and for cancer patients in Victoria and beyond, based on the work of the VCCC Alliance and our contributing members and partners.

In this role, you will work closely with and support program managers, coordinators and senior managers across the business to provide your expert assistance to ensure quality metrics are coordinated and available to meet reporting timelines. You will also assist in continuous improvement to streamline evaluation reporting methods to ensure efficiency and assist in writing, preparing and presenting reports, particularly those required by funding agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide metrics and timely data and analysis for use in key reports
  • Plan and communicate timelines for required reporting milestones
  • Contribute to the writing of evaluation and other reports, providing relevant data and analytical insights
  • Liaise and correspond with internal and external stakeholders to obtain data to include in required reports, compiling updated metrics for each reporting period
  • Coordinate the efficient compilation of evidence to support the evaluation of projects in the Strategic Program Plan and broader impact reporting
  • Assist in the compilation of dashboard metrics and organisational scorecard measures
  • Contribute to the development of new methods and processes and manage change to embed improvements in data collection, management and evaluation.

About You

As a supportive team player who enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will have: 

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the collection, collation and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating multi-faceted evaluation processes, preferably in the health sector.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support and advise key stakeholders with diplomacy.
  • Excellent skills in data interpretation and professional report writing, particularly for the acquittal of funded programs of work.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and achieve work targets while meeting necessary timelines.
  • Skill in using the MSOffice suite of software and in a project management platform such as Asana or similar - experience using SAS and Power BI also an advantage.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or progress towards a degree in a relevant discipline such as evaluation, public health, social science, management or related field, or significant relevant experience.
