Consumer member sought - VCCC Alliance Equity Advisory Group

We are seeking a motivated cancer consumer who is familiar with equity in health services or systems and has experience in contributing to the setting of strategic direction, collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders, and capacity to be part of a dynamic committee.

The Equity Advisory Group will provide strategic direction to VCCC Alliance Health Equity Program on the development and implementation of strategies to address inequities in cancer outcomes across Victoria. The new consumer member will be an integral part of the group, providing experience, guidance and helping to set priorities for the Health Equity Program. 

About the opportunity

The VCCC Alliance Health Equity Advisory Group has been established as an initiative of the Strategic Program Plan 2021-24. It provides advice and guidance on how to address inequities in cancer outcomes across a range of diverse communities. Membership of the group currently includes clinical practitioners, researchers and *consumers.

Applicants from regional Victoria, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and people with disability are strongly encouraged to apply. 

The VCCC Alliance is committed to supporting equity of access and experience. Flexibility for mode of attendance and format of materials can be discussed with the successful candidate to support effective engagement.

Your familiarity with equity issues will enable you to:

  • Provide experience, guidance, and priorities to the Health Equity Program
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on the integration of an equity approach into all VCCC Alliance programs
  • Assist in developing a VCCC Alliance Equity Framework
  • Work collaboratively with VCCC Alliance staff to embed equity initiatives in all strategic program areas
  • Advocate for the health equity program (and the projects within the program) within VCCC Alliance and beyond (external partners and region)
  • Contribute to mandatory quarterly and yearly reports and provide a yearly report to VCCC Alliance Board Groups on critical issues and potential future initiatives.

* Cancer consumers are patients, families, carers, and other support people. It includes in a broad sense anyone affected by cancer.

The time commitment includes participating in Equity Advisory Group bi-monthly meetings, preparation and follow-up on meetings and varying other Strategic Program Plan (SPP) requirements. 

Remuneration will be offered to consumer members in accordance with the VCCC Alliance Accounting and Financial Management Policy and related procedures.
