Melbourne MicroCert: Clinical Trial Protocol Design scholarships

The VCCC Alliance is offering scholarships for staff from VCCC Alliance member organisations, and the regional cancer workforce, to undertake a Melbourne MicroCert (online, short course through the University of Melbourne) in Clinical Trial Protocol Design. The time commitment is approximately four hours per week, delivered flexibly, allowing you to learn on your own schedule and within the timeframe.

Up to 20 scholarships will be awarded to cover 75 per cent of fees for this MicroCert course starting in 21 August 2023.

Clinical Trial Protocol Design

Be supported to study part-time at your own pace. The course also offers a pathway – otherwise known as advanced standing – into the Master of Cancer Sciences.

Gain the practical skills to design a clinical trial protocol and learn from world-leading oncological experts. 

This Melbourne MicroCert is suitable for health professionals in the oncology sector seeking the practical knowledge needed to develop and implement clinical trials. 

Delivered in partnership with the VCCC Alliance, the course provides access to leading oncological experts who'll provide evidence-based insights and indispensable guidance on the practicalities of clinical trial protocol design.

Scholarships

Award: Up to 20 scholarships valued @ $750 toward the full $990 AUD (inc GST) fee 

10 scholarships are available for applicants looking to develop protocols for registry trials, with preference given to those in the non-haematology and non-medical oncology disciplines. These are supported by the VCCC Alliance Clinical Trial Innovations – Registry Trials program. 

10 additional scholarships are available for applicants considering developing protocols for early phase trials. These scholarships are supported by the VCCC Alliance Accelerating Novel Therapies – Clinical Trials Development Hub program.

Who will you learn from?

Associate Professor Kathryn Field, Subject Coordinator, Clinical Trial Protocol Design

A Harvard University graduate and medical oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital, Kathryn has been involved in patient care, and cancer research in brain tumours, bowel cancer and clinical trials. Kathryn also works as a Medical Monitor for a contract research organisation.

  • Professionals in the oncology sector seeking to advance or refresh skills and knowledge in this high-demand area
  • It will suit oncology physician specialists (medical, radiation, surgical), cancer nurses, cancer allied health professionals, clinical trial assistants, study coordinators, investigators, researchers, biomedical and pharmaceutical scientists, and general practitioners
  • Participants require a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area

  1. You are an active member of the cancer workforce in Victoria
  2. You are employed by a VCCC Alliance member organisation or are part of Victoria's regional cancer workforce.
