A/Prof Oliver Klein has undertaken his training in Medical Oncology and Clinical Haematology in Germany joining the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the Austin Hospital in 2005. He has worked for several years as a postdoctoral and clinical research fellow, being actively involved in melanoma and cancer immunotherapy research.
With extensive experience in the management of patients with melanoma and a particular interest in immuno-oncology, he has lead an investigator-initiated clinical trial that demonstrated unprecedented clinical efficacy of immunotherapy, using checkpoint inhibitors in patients with advanced rare cancers. His research is focused on exploring the most up-to-date and novel way to treat cancer, by harnessing the body’s immune system’s ability to fight cancer. He currently is involved in numerous clinical trials and continues to publish in scientific journals and present at national and international conferences.
The CNE role in Oncology at Grampians Health was established in 2015 to support workforce development in cancer care across the Grampians region. Robyn is passionate in her role in educating the nursing workforce to deliver quality cancer care. She has also been a long-term member of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia; serving on numerous committees; and is a current member of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia
Carol has spent over 10 years as a research nurse in Melanoma Clinical Trials. She is currently the part-time Co-Team Leader of the Melanoma, Skin, Head and Neck and UGI trial group.
In 2014, Sheree had a mole removed from her right wrist. Four years later, in April 2018, Sheree was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and underwent Immunotherapy within regional Victoria. Sheree is now in remission and continues to take a course of medication with 6-monthly PET scans and oncologist appointments.
